ABOUT DELTA SIGMA PI

PURPOSE
Delta Sigma Pi is a professional fraternity organized to foster the study of business in universities; to encourage scholarship, social activity and the association of students for their mutual advancement by research and practice; to promote closer affiliation between the commercial world and students of commerce, and to further a higher standard of commercial ethics and culture and the civic and commercial welfare of the community.

HISTORY

Delta Sigma Pi  was created on November 7, 1907, by Alexander Frank Makay, Alfred Moysello, Henry Albert Tienken and Harold Valentine Jacobs at the School of Commerce, Accounts and Finance of New York University. In 1920, H.G. "Gig" Wright became the first Grand President of Delta Sigma Pi. The Central Office was established in Chicago, Illinois in 1924.  In the fall of 1956, the Central Office was moved to the current headquarters at 330 South Campus Avenue in Oxford, Ohio. Today, there are 209 active chapters and nearly 250,000 initiates of the Delta Sigma Pi Professional Fraternity.

The Pillars of DSP

SCHOLARSHIP

At Delta Sigma Pi we value creating an environment that fosters learning and growth amongst our brothers. We host events such as study nights during finals season where brothers can come eat and help each other prepare for their exams. Not only do these gatherings strengthen academic success but also foster teamwork and reinforce the fraternity's values of mutual respect and dedication. Our ultimate goal is to push every brother to reach their full potential, both academically and personally.

SERVICE

Service is greatly valued by our brothers at Delta Sigma Pi. We host many serice events throughout the year such as percentage nights, volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House, and making valentine cards for Creekview Health and Rehabilitation. We value the importance of giving back and making a difference in our community.

PROFESSIONALISM

At Delta Sigma Pi, we aim to help our brothers succeed in their professional lives. We create an environment where our brothers can build the necessary skills to be successful in their future business endeavors. Throughout the year, we host a variety of professional events offering opportunities for our brothers to learn, network, and connect with DSP and University of Tennessee alumni of varying industries. Additionally, we emphasize support and peer mentorship among our brothers, providing the resources and opportunities necessary to help each member thrive.

BROTHERHOOD

At the core of Delta Sigma Pi is brotherhood and we host many chapter-wide events such as dinners and date parties where our brothers can come together. Once in the fraternity, new brothers each receive an older brother who they can connect and engage with. Brothers also gather outside of the fraternity for other events such as Tennessee sporting events and other non-DSP related events. Our goal at Delta Sigma Pi is to create an environment where a brother is supported both professionally and socially.
